High Fashion Photo Shoot

I can't tell you how excited I was to do this session this evening. When I'm working with Miss Kaitlyn, I know I NEVER have to worry or work too hard. She is a natural. See for yourself :c)

I will have many more, but this is all I had time to edit before turning in for the night.

Girl's Lounge

Anna Kate currently has a playroom that she loves being in. However, she does not enjoy being in there alone...I guess that's the breaks of being an only child. Anyway, I recently moved a recliner in there and a little side table and cleaned out the toys that she no longer plays with. We refer to our room as 'the girl's lounge' :c) Since she & I spend so much time in the room, I've decided it needs to be updated - style wise. Anna Kate has her girly, shabby chic bedroom done in pastel green, pink & lavender and we both agree that we want our lounge to be 'funky'. I have been planning this room since last Christmas and it has taken me that long to come up with the look we want. Of course, this all has met Anna Kate's approval, so I feel like it's safe to post what we have come up with. Take a look and tell me what you think.

I already have a white desk in the room, as well as a white Pottery Barn doll house book shelf unit (my parents duplicated the original), a white side table and the recliner. Okay, this is all planned out, so tell me how to convince Santa to bring it all for us........ *cough-cough Santa*

Arts & Crafts

"A picture is a poem without words." ~ Horace

Friday is my short day, but I left a little early today to pick Anna Kate up. I wanted to do something special with her (but cheap!), so I got out all our art & craft supplies. First up was a painting for MiMi (my mom) - she made a request last week.

The Masterpiece Entitled "MiMi & Me"
I love how long MiMi's legs are!!! And look how long her hair is...complete with blue hair bows :c) She's wearing a striped skirt with a purple shirt. The dots represent snow...in July!!!

After Anna Kate finished mom's painting, we got out the beads and stretchy cord to make necklaces and bracelets. I let Anna Kate create her own necklace first.

And considering how giving AK is, she wanted to make a necklace for Mrs. Bridget (daycare). She started out with a pattern and then decided to change it up some.

Here Anna Kate is modeling her new jewelery. How do you like her too-tight pants and too-short shirt? Such the fashionista!!!

Then daddy came home and it was time to get creative with his hair style....LOL!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend :c)

Is it really happening???

Is Anna Kate really starting kindergarten in 12 days?! I can't believe it. And if getting her first round of school clothes from Old Navy wasn't enough to make it real, then today's trip to Wal-Mart for school supplies certainly was :c(

Now I have to design, print and laminate a name tag for her backpack and label everything else.

Still.......seriously? Kindergarten? Waaaaaaahhhhh!!!!

Major Whine Session!!!

I know Monday's tend to be a bad day for most people in general, but I swear I'm being tested today.

Things that have happened today

  1. I have a migraine headache
  2. My beautiful (and favorite) necklace broke (and slid down into my bra) at lunch
  3. One of my lovely Kenneth Cole heels just broke
  4. I barely made it back to the office after lunch due to mechanical issues with my Expedition
  5. And I'm supposed to be at the beach this week, but that's a different post altogether
It's 1:34 PM...

So, in attempt to lift my spirits I'm opting for a little retail therapy.

Think these will do the job?

Help me choose

I'm in the market for new bedding in our room and need your help. I want something fairly light, yet with some color. We don't 'do' primary or bold colors (prefer neutrals). I found a few that we like that are pretty much all in the same price range.

The walls are painted a light khaki with white trim and the carpeting is a light tan. Our furniture is a brown cherry with brushed gold hardware. I currently have brown drapes on the windows, but I can change those.

So which of the following three do you like best? You can vote at the top of the page.

MOSER STRIPED

BRIGITTE

A Queen's Tea

I had the pleasure of photographing the Eufaula/Barbour County Queen's Tea honoring all the Peanut Festival Pageant competitors yesterday, with special guest, Liz Cochran - Miss Alabama 2009. Let me first say that I was NOT prepared for the work involved in this event. O.M.G....I was there 4 1/2 hours and my feet were s c r e a m i n g!! There were over 90 queens - Little Miss and Miss - from all over Southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. It was a precious event though; being a Southern Tea, all the girls came wearing dresses, big hats and gloves - except for Miss Alabama, who wore her beautiful crown.

The Peanut Festival Pageant is a precursor to Miss Alabama (Little Miss, Miss Teen, etc.), so it's a big deal if you run in the pageant circuit, which I don't, but I'm just saying. I have had multiple people encourage me to enter Anna Kate in various pageants, but honestly, it's just not my thing. AK's best friend did quite well in a pageant last year and I was sure she would start asking to do pageants, but she didn't and I certainly didn't bring it up. Now, when she's older and actually can compete for scholarship money and wants to do a pageant, then that's different. But right now, it's just not something we are going to pursue ;c)

Here a couple pics from the afternoon:

Now really, any guesses on who the actual Miss Alabama is? Well crap, the crown gives it away. LOL!!!
Jeff and Anna Kate made a trip to Montgomery to visit with E and from what I understand, they had a wonderful time. I hate that I missed the trip, but I had to mingle with all those queens :c)

E, Jeff says your new 'space' looks so funky...I so wish I could have seen it. And even more so, the painting D did. D, put us on your 'to-do' list ~ We have something in mind :c)

My Loot!!!!!!

I came home yesterday to a small box on the kitchen counter from my mom. Want to see what was in it???

All custom made jewelry by my mom :c) Isn't it gorgeous???!!!! I love every piece of it and I can't decide which is my favorite.

Of course she couldn't leave out AK!

And since I'm posting about accessories; I nearly dropped to my knees and cried when I found my beloved zebra heels lying helplessly in the middle of the den floor all chewed up....BARKLEY!!!!! Can we pause for a moment of silence please?............

Thank you SO MUCH mom for the jewelry. Seriously, you need to set up a boutique on Etsy!!!

Putting Up Peas

It's summer time, which means it's time for putting up fresh veggies :c) Last weekend we washed, blanched, bagged and froze butter beans. Yum! This weekend it was peas. Our deep freeze is now stocked with 6 quarts of butter beans and 9 quarts of peas. Now if I only had a few large beef steak tomatoes......

4th of July & Happy Birthday To Me!

Our fourth was pretty uneventful and laid back....which is the way we like it. We had some friends over for dinner, which was wonderful; smoked ham, pineapple casserole, potato salad, rolls and THE BEST chocolate brownies for dessert (thanks Bridget).

Naturally, the second the kids got their last bite down they were chomping at the bit to play with the sparklers and firecrackers.

(Just a little warning that these pics are completely unedited...I'm not in the mood...sorry.)

After we grew bored with the sparklers (we still have a TON left for New Year's), we walked around front for the firecrackers. The kids loved them. Well, let me rephrase that, the boys loved them. This is how Anna Kate felt about them...

I know I shouldn't laugh, but O.M.G. it was hilarious!!!! Poor baby, she was petrified of the loud 'popping' the firecrackers made.

The fourth was also my 35th birthday. T-h-i-r-t-y - F-i-v-e .........
