A Queen's Tea

I had the pleasure of photographing the Eufaula/Barbour County Queen's Tea honoring all the Peanut Festival Pageant competitors yesterday, with special guest, Liz Cochran - Miss Alabama 2009. Let me first say that I was NOT prepared for the work involved in this event. O.M.G....I was there 4 1/2 hours and my feet were s c r e a m i n g!! There were over 90 queens - Little Miss and Miss - from all over Southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. It was a precious event though; being a Southern Tea, all the girls came wearing dresses, big hats and gloves - except for Miss Alabama, who wore her beautiful crown.

The Peanut Festival Pageant is a precursor to Miss Alabama (Little Miss, Miss Teen, etc.), so it's a big deal if you run in the pageant circuit, which I don't, but I'm just saying. I have had multiple people encourage me to enter Anna Kate in various pageants, but honestly, it's just not my thing. AK's best friend did quite well in a pageant last year and I was sure she would start asking to do pageants, but she didn't and I certainly didn't bring it up. Now, when she's older and actually can compete for scholarship money and wants to do a pageant, then that's different. But right now, it's just not something we are going to pursue ;c)

Here a couple pics from the afternoon:

Now really, any guesses on who the actual Miss Alabama is? Well crap, the crown gives it away. LOL!!!
Jeff and Anna Kate made a trip to Montgomery to visit with E and from what I understand, they had a wonderful time. I hate that I missed the trip, but I had to mingle with all those queens :c)

E, Jeff says your new 'space' looks so funky...I so wish I could have seen it. And even more so, the painting D did. D, put us on your 'to-do' list ~ We have something in mind :c)
